We follow the DROPS team during 2016 following their invitation to our Pedal Club lunch on 11th May.
Round Five of the Matrix Fitness Grand Prix Series had seen Garner amongst the most active riders in the race, attacking and holding an early solo lead, before showing enough recovery and composure to win the bunch sprint after she’d been caught. The Podium Ambition rider held off Monday night’s winner Alice Barnes and British criterium champion Nikki Juniper, with Lydia Boylan and Charlotte Broughton rounding out the top five.
Alice Barnes didn’t just win in Stevenage, she absolutely stamped her authority over the night’s proceedings. Her ride was just a continuation of her stunning performance at the London Nocturne.
For the whole Drops Cycling Team it was the perfect result for them taking the top three placings, as they did at the Lincoln Grand Prix last month, and with the same three riders filling the same finishing positions, Barnes taking the win followed by Rebecca Durrell and Laura Massey.
Our guest speaker Bob Varney with his girls from the Drops Cycling Team, scored a 1/2/3 in the first Women’s Lincoln Grand Prix – Chapeau!
