The traditional November meeting “Lunch with the Pros” lived up to expectation, with good lively attendance. Roger Hammond was captain with a line up that included Dean and Russell Downing, our own Dan Lloyd and Maurice Burton plus Dom Langam from Madison. Probing questions revealed a rare and privileged insight to life as pro, especially recent developments and tactics of GB teams, from many different perspectives. Thought provoking “what ifs”.
Festive cheer balanced proceedings at the December AGM. Completed in good time for lunch! Bruce Sandell has joined us as Press Officer with John McMillan elected a popular President. John’s career exploits are presented here: http://www.veloveritas.co.uk/2014/01/17/john-mcmillan-interview/ Noting that we have both November and December meeting without guests and that December is Christmas, there was debate about revising this scheduling. Amongst proposals were to have the AGM prior to lunch with the pros in November, leaving December free for uninhibited Christmas cheer! Or, to move the AGM to a more sober January gathering. Pedal Club Bursary Awards were made to; Graham Bristow and John Barclay to assist their continued support of track racing and young racing team international experience, plus 14 years old Harriet Mellor of the Hillingdon Slipstreamers to assist her development as an identified talent for the future.
Roger St. Pierre, our guest speaker in January, took us through his wide and varied experiences, perhaps best summarised here: http://www.veloveritas.co.uk/2012/12/22/roger-st-pierre-interview/ followed of course by many questions.
