Member of The Pedal Club from 1942 until 2015.

Founder Member Sports Journalists’ Association.

“Peter Bryan, one of our Association’s founder members, has died at his home in Bournemouth. He was 89.
In a long career covering cycling, Bryan was the editor of The Bicycle and then instrumental in launching Coureur (later Sporting Cyclist) in 1955, the first issue of which was produced from his home. The editorial director at Cycling – now Cycling Weekly – Bryan was the Daily Mail‘s cycling correspondent for 33 years, and later a regular contributor to The Times and Sunday Times.
As a youngster working in Fleet Street immediately after the Second World War, Bryan was one of 21 founder members who attended the first meeting of what was then the Sports Writers’ Association on April 15, 1948, and he would remain a member of the Association until his death, having been made an Honorary Member of the SJA on its 60th anniversary in 2008.
A full appreciation of Peter Bryan’s life and career by his friend and colleague Graham Snowdon will be posted on the site shortly.
