September Meeting
- Tom Morley impressed all with grace in perfect Spanish in recognition of Chris Froome’s achievement in the Vuelta a Espana.
- We held a moment of silence remembering Peter Ryalls.
- New member James Spackman was introduced and received his Club badge and handbook from the President.
- This was a very special meeting because our guest speaker was Joanne Simpson, daughter of Tom Simpson, and so members’ guests included eleven ladies. Joanne had her audience enthralled with her experience as a four-year-old losing her father, and then the challenge of rebuilding a memorial to her father on Mont Ventoux. This most intimate conversation with Joanne was much appreciated by all present. A real surprise was that six members present had actually raced with Tom.
- Ray Pascoe’s video of the Tom Simpson 50th anniversary ride up Ventoux was shown during the meeting.
- Joanne Simpson signed The Pedal Club Golden Book on the page opposite her father’s posthumous citation “It’s more than an Honour that after 50 years my father has died on the legendary Mont Ventoux, To be invited here in London at the Pedal Club and meeting all these wonderfull people. Thanks ever so much for keeping memories alive. Joanne Simpson”
- Gino spoke eloquently about the upcoming 77th anniversary of the Battle of Britain.
- Get well cards were signed for John Page and Len Unwin.

- Next meeting is 11th October
